Lightweight Concrete

The earliest documented use of lightweight concrete (LWC) in contemporary construction was in 1917. It made its debut when the American Emergency Fleet Corporation adopted it for shipbuilding, fascinated by its impressive strength, capabilities and effectiveness. Over the years, LWC has evolved into a commonplace material for building robust and reliable load-bearing walls, bridges, and sewer systems.

Properties Of Lightweight Concrete

Lightweight concrete is crafted with lightweight aggregates, like shale, clay, or slate, so that it possesses a lower density vis-a-vis traditional concrete. Structural lightweight concrete typically has a density ranging between 90 to 115 lb/ft³, while the conventional concrete ranges from 140 to 150 lb/ft³. This diminished weight makes lightweight concrete perfect for present-day constructions in need of slim foundation cross sections. It’s gradually being deployed for sleek and efficient structures and has minimum foundational requirements.

What We Do

“Select the premium materials available and bring to light their natural characteristics, displaying the exceptional workmanship and the integrity of their assembly as well.”

Lightweight concrete is a mixture made withlightweight coarse aggregates such as shale, clay, or slate, which give it its characteristic low density. Structural lightweight concrete has an in-place density of 90 to 115 lb/ft³, whereas the density of regular weight concrete ranges from 140 to 150 lb/ft³. This makes lightweight concrete ideal for building modern structures that require minimal cross sections in the foundation. It is being increasingly used to build sleek foundations, and has emerged as a viable alternative to regular concrete.
